Art sessions in the community

National Museum of Scotland

The museum kindly invited me to host the Art Workshops over the Festive period in conjunction with their Christmas Art Competition.

The two days that I ran the workshops were hugely popular and many participants, young and old, showed great talent and enthusiasm in drawing all sorts of animals.

Here are a few community events where I have led art sessions for kids.

Creature Features had an excellent day at the Edinburgh International Science Festival  and this is what I'm hoping to achieve-interaction and involvement through art.

21-22 May 2016.

I was delighted to be invited to run a couple of art workshops with the focus being on Scottish wildlife at the RSPB's Big Nature Festival in Musselburgh.

All participants displayed a fine array of talent and enthusiasm which resulted in a lot of excellent work by the kids, aswell as by the big kids! I thoroughly enjoyed my involvement with the classes and hope to do so again next year.

Afterschool Art Workshop,Boroughmuir High School,26 Viewforth,Edinburgh,EH10 4LR.

The afterschool art club for primary 7 kids was held at Boroughmuir High school  and a lot of diverse artwork was developed. The students learned to draw a variety of different animals and creatures ranging from Dinosaurs,Dragons and Dolphins!

The first few weeks focused on developing drawing skills by using various techniques and skills and also growing confidence. The second part of the course allowed the students to be more creative and imaginative by developing a poster of their favourite film/TV Series.

Kids Art Workshops,Space Artworks Gallery,410 Morningside Road,Edinburgh,EH10 5HY.'The Jungle Book' themed Mural,July 9-August 13,2016.

The Kids Art Workshop at Space Artworks Gallery created a huge jungle scene inspired by the famous book by Rudyard Kipling-'The Jungle Book'.

We're into week five of the project and all the main characters have been drawn and coloured in and are ready to be cut out and placed on the scene. The jungle scene still has a little bit of work to be done but should be finished soon.

All of the students that have contributed to the collage will be credited at the end when we will display the final artwork on the gallery wall.
